We’re now in our 3rd series of the challenging project. The timeframe for each episode is extremely tight from concept, boarding, character design and then finally animation. Despite the time constraints we still need to project the same level of energy and quirkiness. In fact the schedule aids us in some ways as it gives the work the unique vector/hand drawn style, which was established from the start.
It seems to be working as the show has now received multiple awards including the Best Factual Entertainment show at 2019’s Royal Television Society Yorkshire. It has been praised for its balance of education and entertainment and is loved by everybody from the production team, the BBC and most importantly the kids that watch it religiously.
