Pride & Prejudice

In celebration of the upcoming 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, Audible commissioned a brand-new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, voiced by a star-studded cast including Marisa Abela as Elizabeth Bennet and Harris Dickinson as Mr. Darcy.
To promote the launch, Audible wanted a campaign that would both honour Austen’s literary legacy and resonate with today’s audiences.
Working in collaboration with the global production company Not Just Any and the agency Alphabetical, Northforge was tasked with creating a series of animations that would be combined with the live action shot by acclaimed Director William McGregor. The final film would capture the timelessness of Austen’s world while emphasising the modern accessibility and creativity of Audible’s adaptation.

Behind the scenes

Collaborating closely with Alphabetical’s creative team, our team embraced their vision to craft animated floral motifs inspired by Regency-era designs. Since craftsmanship was central to the project, Alphabetical brought in Hand & Lock, the world-renowned embroidery and embellishment atelier whose artisans have honed their skills for over 250 years. Their intricate, hand-stitched creations became the foundation for the animations, which our animators meticulously matched on screen.
This rare level of artistry elevated the project and made it even more appealing to our team while also introducing unique creative challenges.

Drawing on our extensive experience in woven, knitted, and stitch-based animation, we dedicated weeks to R&D, developing striking forms that would seamlessly overlay the live-action footage. The animation style drew from ink illustrations and watercolour textures, evoking Austen’s period while introducing subtle modern design cues to appeal to today’s audiences.
The resulting embroidery animations acted as a narrative thread, mirroring Elizabeth Bennet’s inner world while capturing the elegance and refinement of Regency craft.

Our talented houdini team once again got to grips with stitching fabrics, this time with the added complication of matching one of the world's finest embroiderers. The dedication and attention to detail from all involved made it a pleasure to be a part of”

By merging performance with animation, Northforge has helped create a campaign that feels both classic and contemporary, much like Audible’s adaptation itself.
